Tools Needed : level, shovel, wheelbarrow, mallet, & tape measure

Materials Needed : retaining wall stones $1.98 each (red, grey or tan) sand $4.98 (bag) lava rocks $4.98 (bag) pea pebbles $4.38 (bag) Landscape adhesive if you would like a permeant structure.

DIY Fire Pit Step 1: Place stones in the exact location where you want the fire place. Edge around the rocks with shovel. Then remove the stones.

DIY Fire Pit Step 2: Once stones are removed then remove about three inches of grass, soil, roots and rocks that you might encounter. Then apply pressure to soil with weight to compact the dirt.

DIY Fire Pit Step 4: Once again this is a time place the stones back into position and level the stones by using a level. Using a mallet you can tap the stone gently to get it leveled. You can add or remove sand if needed.

DIY Fire Pit Step 5 : Once everything is leveled we’re ready to build the second level. When we place our second row of rocks we want to place them on the halfway point of the rock meaning we want to place the new Rock middle part in between two rocks. If you want this fire pit permanent you can use landscape adhesive on each stone placed.
